GUADEC

GUADEC

A word that I always read and never gave importance to. Unintentionally I discovered that this acronym means GNOME User And Developer European Conference.

It’s an event that’s held annually in (guess where) Europe, and the topic is (guess what) GNOME (GNU Network Object Model Environment) development.

Reading and researching a bit about the organization (especially looking at the schedule of last year’s edition) the 1st Python Conference in Santa Fe, which was organized recently, came to mind. Of course this is something much more complex and bigger.

On the GUADEC website one can see that the event has sponsor categories:

Cornerstone Sponsor (this translates as Fundamental Sponsor… it’s the cornerstone :D):

Nokia

Gold Sponsors:

OSDL

Sun Microsystems

HP Invent

Silver Sponsors:

Google

Red Hat

Intel

Novell

There are also Media Partners, like Linux Magazine or Barrapunto.

The event will take place in Vilanova i la GeltrĂș (Catalonia, Spain), from June 24 to 30 (very little time left!). The place where the conference will be held looks spectacular, very well prepared for an event of this magnitude.

There are talks that are very good, and seem very interesting (surely they will be). These are the ones that caught my attention most (there are talks in Spanish and English):

Development of an email client for mobile devices, successful migration stories, large developments, GNOME 3.0, etc are other topics that will be covered. There are many more talks, and very interesting ones, that I’m not putting here to not make the list unnecessarily long. Browse the program yourselves.

In short, a dream to add to the queue…
