There are a lot of people, I’m sure, who think that what it said was true. These people are characterized by being supposed unbelievers. Father Fernando Pascual once said that “There is no one more gullible than the supposed unbeliever”. That’s why, when a new book comes out, with a new story that contradicts The Da Vinci Code, they’re going to believe that one too.
Many said this novel marked a before and after. That’s not true: this kind of thing has been written for a very long time. If we go over the previous century decade by decade, you’ll see that in each one of them there was a different image of Jesus, the product of publicity and books like The Da Vinci Code. The topic really does interest people… see?

Why are people like this? Why do they believe so easily what is presented to them in the media?
Last night I was talking with someone about the sacrament of confession. This person goes to Mass occasionally, and receives Communion every time. They don’t go to confession. So I told them, in case they didn’t know, that they couldn’t receive Communion without going to confession first. At that precise moment tempers rose and an argument started. I have a broken arm and a cut leg… just kidding 😛
At one point this person said something like: “Nobody is going to come and tell me whether I have to go to confession before receiving Communion. If I want to, I go and receive Communion every Sunday and I don’t go to confession”. They did know you have to go to confession first…
That is the answer to the question I raised earlier: people are proud, they believe they are right and that they can put together their own concept of what is right and what is wrong. This is called relativism, and it’s something Pope Benedict XVI talks about a great deal, since it’s a trait of our era.
Thinking this way, then we can’t complain if someone comes along, smashes our car with rocks, knocks down our door and steals everything from us. Why not? and because surely nobody is going to go and tell him whether or not he can smash a car with rocks and whether or not he can knock down a door and steal everything. Exactly the same thing happens with abortion. Relativism is a concept that refutes itself.
